Born and raised in the heart of Southern California, where the bold, creative energy of Los Angeles provided the perfect backdrop to shape designer Julie McKinney’s vision of Cat O’ Nine. Surrounded by the glamour of Hollywood and the free-spirited California vibe, Julie’s designs reflect a mix of high fashion, music, and street culture that crosses over regions. Drawing inspiration from the iconic styles of vintage rock and roll and the innovation of top designers, Julie, a largely self-taught visionary, has spent years deconstructing and reimagining clothing to create a fit that is as unique as the wearer.

Established in 2016, Cat O’ Nine was born out of a singular vision: to create bespoke, avant-garde fashion that rebels against the confines of fast fashion. Julie observed the rise of athleisure as a daily uniform, where women traded style for comfort. Determined to find a balance between the two, she set out to design pieces that offered  the best of both worlds— comfort without sacrificing that need for individual edge and uniqueness.
